2,208km! China’s hybrid vehicle Roewe D7 DMH
sets a Guinness World Record for the longest journey
Recently, under the official certification of the world’s most authoritative record institution, “the Guinness World Records Challenge of SAIC MOTOR Roewe D7 DMH” was successfully concluded in Urumqi. The Roewe D7 DMH World Champion Edition, with a measured range of 2208km and an impressive average fuel consumption of 2.49L/100km, officially won the Guinness World Records of the “Longest journey by a plug-in hybrid powered production sedan without refuelling or recharging” and established itself as “the most fuel-efficient hybrid B-segment sedan worldwide”.
The four-day challenge began in Lanzhou, passed through Jiayuguan, Dunhuang, and Turpan, and ended in Urumqi, traversing a variety of terrains—including the Gobi Desert, snowfields, and mountainous regions where temperatures dropped to as low as -8°C. Facing complex road conditions and low-temperature environments more challenging than real driving scenes, Roewe D7 DMH World Champion Edition with the DMH Super Hybrid System delivered satisfying results.
Recognized as one of the “China Heart” Top 10 engine and hybrid systems in 2023, DMH Super Hybrid System features the first-of-its-kind five-in-one powertrain brain PICU, P1+P3 configuration of dual motor hybrid special transmission, and other hybrid special hardware and software. This advanced system enabled the Roewe D7 DMH World Champion Edition to be celebrated as “the most powerful long-range super hybrid vehicle around 100,000 RMB.”
As a representative of China’s national independent automotive brands, SAIC MOTOR has been committed to developing new energy technology since 2010, boasting more than ten years of experience in relevant areas. In 2017, SAIC plug-in hybrid technology won the second prize of the State Science and Technology Advancement Award as the only automotive project. Being recognized along with the Jiaolong manned submersible and hybrid rice technology, which won the first prize, further highlights SAIC's achievements. Furthermore, it was also certified as the “Hybrid technology benchmark” by Xinhua News Agency this year.
Looking ahead, Roewe remains committed to being 'user-centered,' accelerating research and development in innovative technologies, strengthening product quality standards, and facilitating the electrification and intelligent transformation of China’s automotive industry.
