SAIC MOTOR

SAIC Motor dealers confident about market shares in Australia, New Zealand

More than 100 representative dealers of MG from Australia and New Zealand gathered in Shanghai to attend a product seminar launched by SAIC Motor, China's largest carmaker by sales, from Oct 10 to 12.

Attendees gained insights into the business plans for intelligent electric technology innovation, future product upgrades, and overseas market expansion of MG, a self-owned brand of SAIC Motor. They also had an opportunity to experience MG’s newly-launched intelligent connected new energy vehicles (NEVs), such as MG Cyberster, the world's first soft-top convertible with scissor doors that will be available overseas soon, as well as those from IM Motors and Rising Auto.

Dealer representatives attending the seminar were impressed by the innovative "Made in China" technology on show. They also expressed an eagerness to enhance cooperation with SAIC Motor’s MG brand to achieve greater success in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

The MG brand registered an average annual sales growth of 50 percent in the Australian and New Zealand markets over the past seven years. Its high-quality products and services have helped MG establish a strong brand foundation and excellent user reputation in the local market.

Official data showed that in September, MG sold 5,400 vehicles in Australia, a year-on-year increase of 65.6 percent. From January to September this year, MG’s sales in the Australian and New Zealand markets exceeded 47,000 vehicles, and its annual sales are expected to exceed 65,000. In the future, MG will increase its investment in the two markets and upgrade its dealer network and products. It will also provide better products and services to local consumers.

The excellent performance of the MG brand in Australia and New Zealand is also a reflection of SAIC Motor's steady overseas expansion. The company has built a whole value chain for the automobile industry overseas, including establishing research and development centers for innovation, manufacturing bases, marketing centers, supply chain centers and finance companies. Currently, its services and products are available in more than 100 countries and regions.

In 2022, SAIC Motor became China’s first automaker to sell over 1 million vehicles overseas. This year, SAIC is aiming to develop one “200,000 unit-level” regional market and five “100,000 unit-level” markets overseas, and sell over 1.2 million units for the year.
